Germany's oldest street-legal car is the "Benz Patent Motorwagen Nummer 1," which was built by Karl Benz in 1886. This vehicle is widely considered to be the world's first practical automobile, as it was the first vehicle to be powered by an internal combustion engine.

The Benz Patent Motorwagen Nummer 1 was a three-wheeled vehicle featuring a single-cylinder, four-stroke engine mounted at the rear. It had a displacement of 954 cc and produced around 0.75 horsepower, allowing it to achieve a top speed of approximately 16 km/h (10 mph).

This historic vehicle had a simple wooden frame, steel-tired wooden wheels, and a tiller for steering. It also featured a leather belt drive system and a single forward-facing seat for the driver.

The Benz Patent Motorwagen Nummer 1 revolutionized transportation and paved the way for the modern automobile industry. Today, several examples of this groundbreaking vehicle are preserved in museums around the world, showcasing the origins of automotive engineering and innovation.
